Our mission is to provide your family with great tasting, ethically raised, sustainable, Texas beef direct from our farm to your family table. Read more about our operations below!

Grass Fed, Grain Finished
Marbling is one of the most important influences on the taste of great beef and gives steaks, like the ribeye, that rich, buttery flavor. Our beef is grain finished for a minimum of 120 days, which creates these fantastic flavors and premium steaks that grade as USDA high choice or prime. We guarantee this is some of the best tasting beef you will ever have!

Ethically Raised
We believe in treating our animals humanely and raising them in a stress free, comfortable environment. Traditionally, cattle are shipped to feedlots where they are confined in small feedlot pens with hundreds of animals for 90-120 days of grain finishing. Our animals are pasture raised 100% of the time, encouraging the cows’ natural behaviors and minimizing undue stress to the animals. We provide over 300 acres of open pasture for roaming and grazing, as well as 24/7 access to clean water, shade, hay, feed, and minerals.

Unlike traditional feedlots, we do not restrict our cows from grass and natural forage during the finishing process. Our custom grain finishing program utilizes free choice self-feeding with the animal remaining on pasture. Our animals choose freely between grain, grass, and other natural forage and do not develop “feeding frenzy” behaviors. We have found that this program ensures the quality marbling and great taste of grain finished beef, while allowing our cows to grow stress free, eating what they want when they want.

Healthy
We take your health and the health of our herd very seriously! In traditional feedlot settings, antibiotics are added to feed to prevent stomach and digestion issues associated with high grain diets and feeding frenzies caused by twice daily feeding. Added hormones are also included to grow the cows bigger, faster.

At CVH farms, our beef cows are NEVER treated with antibiotics or added hormones. Our low stress, self-fed feeding program virtually eliminates the need for antibiotics in our beef cattle. Any animals that do become sick are treated based on our veterinarian’s recommendations, and any animals that do require antibiotics are removed from our beef program even if they meet the labeled withdrawal periods.

Additionally, we operate a closed herd which greatly reduces the risk of our animals being exposed to outside disease or illness. If new animals are introduced, we follow strict quarantine procedures. Our entire herd is kept up to date on current vaccination guidelines, keeping them healthy throughout their lives.

Sustainable
Our farm-to-table model means our beef leaves behind a smaller carbon footprint. Our only transportation is directly to our local processor and then straight to you, as opposed to operations that transport cows hundreds of miles to feedlots, then to processors, wholesalers, the grocery store, and finally to your home. We source our custom-made feed blends from a local feed mill only a few miles from the ranch, reducing our carbon footprint for transporting feed. We capture rainwater using multiple ponds in our pastures to reduce our consumption of water resources. We also maintain over 250 acres of young and mature mixed pine and hardwood trees on the ranch, which are home to multiple species of wildlife native to East Texas, including deer, ducks, bald eagles, rabbits, armadillos, skunks and even rare swallow-tailed kites. We never harvest timber or clear cut.
